#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
A day framed by walking two rivers: The Eryieux in the morning, and the Seine at night. Frank and I woke early, and I slipped out the door, through the gates to the driveway, and walked toward the river. I found a lovely road running along the river, and climbed up the narrow street, after passing the grape vineyard, up to the trail I walked yesterday, circled around, and then found my way back to our friends’ home in time for breakfast and a swim. Sunny, and not as warm as yesterday. Our day of return to Paris. Patrice and Veronique invited over a special friend for us to meet; we packed a picnic lunch of bread and cheese for the train, and after our meeting Patrice rushed us to the train. But we met a detour and missed our train. I was sorry to have to cancel my writer’s group which I had planned to run on Zoom when we returned to Paris. So, we missed that, but got the next fast train back to Paris. Arrived at Gare de Lyon and taxied to our friends’ flat to stay one night before our Airbnb. On a whim, we had purchased, earlier in the day, tickets to a John Fogerty concert in a large concert venue just outside of Paris along the Seine. So, a very quick turnaround, we grabbed a pizza at our favorite place nearby and taxied the twenty minutes to La Grande Seine . The concert was full! And sweet, and loud and nostalgic. We enjoyed ourselves, and emerged into the evening well after 10:00 p.m and it was still light. Then, back to Rue Cler where we finished a lovely day with our favorite gelato and a stroll back to the flat. Tomorrow, to our AirBnB. Frank off to Roland Garros. I will have my own adventure. It was sad to leave Patrice and Veronique; we will see them for dinner before departing. At the train station Patrice announced that we must promise to come every May to Paris from now on, and we shook hands on it. So there.
