#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Where birds live, April maples over Charles

This lusty maple tree in bud above the Charles makes me very happy. April is in its soul. It’s a glorious April tree on a glorious April morning. The weather in a sudden delightful shift. Such perfect skies, and the day warms exquisitely. My youngest is home not feeling well. I decided not to swim today, but to walk, gently and quietly enjoying spring and being outdoors. I had a wonderful rejection of poems today. Wonderful because it’s a journal I very much admire and one does not always get such positive words: we really are interested in your work and please hear this as an invitation to send us more, we really mean it, more or less. This made me feel like the Maple tree in bloom. And I was frustrated by having to drive to a second drug store, not very nearby, to get a prescription for my daughter. My local CVS is just letting me down a lot lately. But the ride turned into a blessing because I was able to call a dear friend and discuss something and she gave me, so generously and intelligently, just what I needed. So, thank you, CVS, after all. There were red wing blackbirds singing in the wetlands. And the brooks are coming back to life with their weedy new growth. Today felt fresh. And in the Ukraine group there was pain and loss and we also found a way to have some smiling and laughter. And while I was nearing the end of my morning walk a poem, a new poem, started in me, and I thought, well, I don’t know if I will find a way to start this poem today on the page. And I didn’t. Maybe it will be patient.
