Life, as we all know, is conflict, and man, being part of life, is himself an expression of conflict. If he recognizes the fact and accepts it, he is apt, despite the conflict, to know peace and to enjoy it. But to arrive at this end, which is only a beginning (for we haven’t begun to live yet!), a man has got to learn the doctrine of acceptance, that is, of unconditional surrender, which is love.

There is a little ice, nothing interesting. Ice season has passed. There are very few signs of spring, but some buds on trees. A little something. Cold morning, but Charlie and I had good times in the woods and stayed dry. I did not swim today, and hope to go tomorrow. Ukraine support group; we are encountering a change and in a bit of flux. Normal and all will be well. I have been very busy, and I like that. It’s nice to have Frank back in the house and everyone appreciates his return. I saw him having lunch on the sunny deck with my daughter’s boyfriend who works from home, from my window. I heard my daughter talking cheerfully and catching up with him when she came home from work with groceries. I heard him talking to my other daughter on the phone for a long time in the other room. He was talking in every room in the house, and to me, during all his breaks from his busy day. Listening and talking to all of us. Bringing his cheerful optimism and problem solving and sense of humor into all of our challenges.
