#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Today, remarkable day. Before walk, my concern for the power-less at home, Charlie and the cold I cannot warm from this distance. Still, we depart for our walk to the beach and the splendid tide pool swimming in the sunlight. A day of shifts, the household’s slight changes and clean up, rearrangements. After the tide pool we all meet for a delicious, long, lingering breakfast. Such a pleasure in a quiet, secluded outdoor cafe. I never take the time to go out to breakfast. But here, I am liking this casual, relaxed time so much. On the ride home, in the car, back up the hill to our casa, we are talking about transformation––and out the car window, fluttering beside me, flitting away, is a gorgeous Morpho Helena butterfly! Oh my! All morning, before the butterfly sighting, I feel boisterous, spontaneous, playful––I feel like all the zipped up parts of my body, mind and spirit are being unzipped and I am also transforming. Mid day we get news that the house at home has power. Quite relieved. Our day here is the opposite of cold. In the afternoon we all retreat to our various activities, some doing art, some napping, some swimming in the pool. . . some, like me, proofing the second round of changes for my manuscript. I swim in the pool and in the ocean to my heart’s content. And through this experience we are all having such deep conversations. We are all unzipping.
