Red tailed hawk in meadow
"The February sunshine steeps your boughs and tints the buds and swells the leaves within."
- William C. Bryant
Charlie and I with our new ritual. He waits for me while I swim, and then we walk in Medfield State. He simply cannot hear anymore. Deaf as Suzi was. Handsome as ever. He seems to be glad I’m home, but I’m putting him through his paces, working him hard in the Charles River woods. Some splashes of sunshine, but really quite quite cold today, walking with my pool-wet hair. We walked through the meadow and watched the red-tailed hawk hunting in the frozen grass. It’s good to see a hawk, to be reminded of perspective. Circling the meadow from above. Patience with all things. Trust that what needs to be seen will emerge. Frank and I had a nice visit with our son, hearing about his life, catching up. A February quiet day, and our gladness to be home. Our son is planning to co-lead with a friend a forest bathing and cacao ceremony here on the property in March, so we heard all about that. Frank and I went out and bought a rug. We love to buy rugs. This is for a room we will use as a group workshop room. Splashy, bold, bright colors––we love it. Now there is inspiration, a starting place. Our daughter came in, gave her approval, and then her insights and inspiration. Such a quiet, relaxing, late winter Saturday of being happy to be exactly where we are.
