#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
It’s picture day. He looks so handsome going out the door with his mother. I have packed him two drinks for the car, as I always do: apple juice and hot chocolate. He’s wearing the jeans I brought him from Paris and a sweet sweater. I go off for my wonderful swim. On the way home, see a text from my daughter. The hot chocolate top came off and he went to school for picture day dribbled with it. Oh dear. Only on picture day! I have a nice, short walk with Charlie and then my Charles River Writers craft webinar. A quick trip to Tatte for lunch with my youngest. We run through the scripts she’s performing tonight for my Play Lab Showcase. Which goes wonderfully, despite glitches beyond my control. I’m so proud of what the writers accomplish in this six weeks, and so proud of the actors that bring them to life. There is so much healing in this process. The feedback is so positive, and I’m quite moved, as I always am, by the power of these voices and this practice of storytelling through monologue. I thank the audience for coming tonight. Because it occurs to me what an act of generosity it is to show up for performances. There are so many things we cannot do to help others. Being present for these women’s voices is a truly meaningful act.
