Bit of a sleep-in after a late night seeing Avatar with friends––a fun night. Then, my swim. I dive in, I plan to do a mile, and then I do. I always try to follow my plan. The pool is Saturday crowded. Parents and kids in for swim lessons is a wonderful energy. Kids learning the joy of swimming. I realize, in the pool, almost the whole Avatar movie was about swimming. Then, Charlie for a walk under the dripping trees. I think I am going to write or work on writing today; but my youngest is free and invites me out for coffee, and we have had so little time together to relax I say yes. Coffee turns to lunch, a quiet table in the window of a favorite cafe in Wellesley. And we talk about so many many things. But this one, she is brilliant and amazing, my daughter. Our talk evolves into my sharing some things that are challenging me on my mind and in my heart, and truly, she is such a listener, she helps me have a major insight about something, there in the sunlight of our quiet table. She’s been like this, her whole life, an inuitively exceptional listener. And now she’s a trained and skilled one too, and she loves me. And she’s relieved, she says, because she understands something about me more clearly. And I see that she’s grateful too. We have such a beautiful day and afternoon. Both daughters home in the afternoon and we all end up cooking and talking and being happy in the house together the rest of the day.
