#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Overslept. Necessary. There is someone at my door who wants me to wake up. Takes my hand. Even before I have had coffee—-must have coffee—wants me outdoors. There are bunnies and frogs in the yard waiting to see us. Somehow, I negotiate to get my coffee. This walk in the yard includes my daughter. We all walk to the river in the sunshine. Our feet in the black mud of the moist edge. A heart to heart talk. This day’s activities running already at full speed. There are plants to be watered. A young deer, very young, spindly legs and dancing, hopping walk through the yard––lost? Charlie spots it and the chase is on; the young deer swiftly across the meadow and out of sight. A busy day and all day I feel as if I’m running to catch up. To the supermarket with my other daughter, preparations for Frank’s birthday that we will celebrate with friends. They are hosting, but I am bringing the food. So much to do! Still, it all gets done, and we even get to all go for a swim at Farm Pond before the party. Today I am tired and I take a small swim. Just enough. A lobster dinner for Frank, his favorite. His birthday is tomorrow; a July birthday is always fun. We are with dear friends and my daughters and daughter’s boyfriend and the whole evening, outdoors, is delicious. He is happy and grateful. But he is always happy and grateful, no matter what.
