#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Early Evening on the Charles

In the Boston Globe today, I read an article about an aspiring Eagle Scout in Salem, Massachusetts, Jayden Cannon, who is doing his Boy Scout project to help a school in their monarch conservation. In the article, I learned about a non-profit at the University of Kansas, Monarch Watch, that promotes monarch conservation. I learned about what a Monarch Waystation is, and realized my gardens meet all the requirements to qualiify as a monarch waystation! Hooray! The monarchs have not appeared in my garden yet, but I know they’ll be here soon. Another wonderful, spontaneous weekend day of sun and fun. My sister and one of her grandchildren arrived early and we drove to see her daughter, my niece, and my newest grand niece! A perfect tiny gorgeous sweet smiling and sleeping darling and I got to hold her for quite some time. Also, I got to play and swim in her pool with my grand nephews. Unplanned fun. Then, home in the afternoon and still so hot my daughter and I headed over to Farm Pond to cool off. What a crowd! Busiest I’ve seen it this year, in 91 degree sunshine. I got my swim around the island in just before the thunder rolled in and the lifeguards cleared the water for 30 minutes. We went home before my daughter got to swim. Tonight, casual dinner on the deck and then I pulled the wagon with a special passenger across the field in the light soft breeze to the quiet river busy with birds and dragonflies. Soft air of July. Such peace at the river. I feel, after this weekend, that I am getting from summer exactly what I need to get. It goes by so fast, but I am really in deep, so present to the lovely heat and joy of this fine weather.
