Overnight, a good drenching. Wet yard in the warm sunny morning. The kind of morning where we would have left our bathing suits out on the clothesline as children and would then have to put them on wet in the morning for a day at the beach. The bunny is in the yard, we can see from the window. Outdoors is fresh. I have a busy day, but I have woken with new energy. I surprise myself with how many things I do between six and 9:45 a.m. when I start my online writer’s group I have cooked breakfast for the special one and cleaned up the kitchen and walked myself and Charlie in the dripping forest and made my bed and done a load of laundry and taken poor Suzi to the vet for an ultrasound. Suzi has a liver problem. Not one that can really be solved. I make her a nice meal that she enjoys when she gets home. Tonight I go into the city and have dinner with two poetry friends outdoors in the evening air. My friend makes us a lovely dinner and we talk poetry to our heart’s content. And sleepiness falls on me like a drug after a filling, satisfying July day.
