#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Farm Pond, From the Beach

“For things to reveal themselves to us, we need to be ready to abandon our views about them.”
― Thich Nhat Hanh

Frank and I wake on the same schedule since Paris––early. We have coffee together and talk. This morning, after the sweet dogs are fed, we talk about something we need to respond to together, something we need to sort out. And, I am right. After a good night sleep, I have more clarity. We can take this question apart and look at it with some objectivity. Acknowledge concerns. And then, consider letting them go and seeing the question with new eyes and new possibilities. Tonight I find this Thich Nhat Hanh quote and realize this is exactly true of what happened. In the woods I carry a special one on my back. We let the morning reveal itself to us. No bunnies, but a snake and many birds, of course, And then, the best surprise: Charlie is wiling to cross the trestle bridge and the men are in their field flying their remote control planes. What a show! We stay and watch to our heart’s content. At home, a little bit of weeding. I don’t have the motivation or energy this weekend to do much in the yard. In the afternoon, a trip to Farm Pond for a swim. My daughter and I take good ones in the cool water. Then, on the beach, run into my brother who has just missed us and is here for his own. I love how after 60 plus years of swimming the pond I can still run into my brother on this beach. I tell him we will go to Laurel Lake soon, him, me, and my two daughters, and we will swim across together.
