#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Late Afternoon, Charles River

Not a great night’s sleep; noise down the hall, and a late night comforting of an unsleeping one on the other side of the wall. I’m so happy to be home. Happy I got to go away, be away, and be back home. Even in this very cold. Charlie watched me leave the house in flipflops and sweat suit over my bathing suit. Poor Charlie, but I wanted a swim! He had to wait for his walk. Swam my laps so heartily, so happily back in the long laps of the pool. In a rhythm of breath and arms and legs and breath. A busy day, appointments, visit to doctor, new course of antibiotics for my ear, and prep for workshop tonight and tomorrow. Tonight, started a new 5-week webinar, writing from photos, and assembled an intimate and creative group; great results from the prompt. And resuming Charles River Writers tomorrow after my short break while away; eager to see everyone. Meals, again, at home. Frank went to the store and bought cod, he and I cooked the easy meal together. In the late afternoon I went out with Charlie and Suzi, feeling a bit of the snow melt, softening, and the river ice melting. But there is probably enough snow for a ski tomorrow, perhaps my last? Charlie will be happy to hear this in the morning. Three of my images and haiku-like writing to go with them published today in Synkroniciti: Chicken of the Woods; Feather in Grass; River Artists, all from #mydailywalks on the Charles. I submitted first, just the images, and then they accepted them and asked if I wanted to include any text with them, and so I did. What’s happening in Ukraine is unbelievable, and yet true. I am interested to hear Biden’s State of the Union response tonight. My friend, the poet, Martha McCollough posted this poem (above) on Facebook today; not written about Ukraine, and yet––ugh. It is.
