#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Landon
The first thing I did was text my son, away in Vermont, a happy birthday. My firstborn. For his birthday, when he returns, we will all go on a hike with him. Charlie and I took a short walk. I wanted to swim before an appointment, and I did. It feels wonderful to be back in my routine. In the afternoon, I focused on getting organized to get some poems out to journals as I have not submitted in months and I have a huge backlog. I went to a coffee place in Wellesley and sat down and didn’t distract myself for almost three hours. Home to dinner made by Frank for all of us, and we sat by the fire. Tomorrow I hope to get out for a long hike in the woods and a swim too. It’s cold and dark, wintry today. But my son was born in Florida, and it didn’t feel like winter at all then. It was sunny and warm. Tonight, he is sleeping, probably on the ground, under a tarp, with a tarp beneath him, in the woods of Vermont, with his clients. And he is very comfortable and happy on his birthday.
