#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

There is a path through the overhanging beech in the woods. This morning, cloud cover. Quiet. Leaves in the brook swirling. End of October times, past peak. I have been awake for a long time. Frank gone before 5:00 a.m. I have much to do; laundry and then clearing out the laundry room for painters. Pancakes, for a special one, with bananas. The laundry room gets done. Every room disarranged in the whole house. The workers arrive. Windows torn out, tile ripped up. Oh, it’s getting real and realer, all this change. Last night the mirror, a smart mirror, flashed on and off its lights for no obvious reason while I was in bed. It will get used to being here, I think. Still, I have work that gets done; Ukrainian support group. For those who have electricity or can attend via cell phone or who are no longer in Ukraine. It’s raining so heavily again in the dark tonight. It’s nice. And I had a session with my mentor, my poetry manuscript consultant, my friend, and we went deep and she was so helpful and validating. And I’m excited about this work in progress. And my dear friend met me at Tatte in Wellesley for my birthday tea. Yes, a birthday for me tomorrow. And the Charles River Writers in the morning. And the workers, and the progress. The stunning, massive stone fireplace almost done!
