#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

From the Trestle Bridge, Charles River

From the Trestle Bridge, Charles River

The blessing of being woken at 4:30 a.m. by Frank leaving to catch a plane––well, two blessings, actually, as I realize it. First, getting my weekly Aim-for-Astonishing prompt written and sent, on my mind since yesterday, when I had intended to write it; and secondly, getting out into the cold, foggy morning, the wonderful beauty of the early morning. My camera has sorely missed these shots. My spirit has missed this moist beauty. It was cold enough for running pants, not shorts. And, I ran. Did three miles in the wet woods. Then, when my youngest woke soon after, she and I took a walk with our special someone and we got to catch up on all her news and thoughts. This was a day when I got early to my office and straight to work; spending a good chunk of my day revising two recent poems The second one is the one I brought to workshop tonight, and I spend a long time on chiseling it into shape. It paid off in the very encouraging feedback tonight. There was a point in the afternoon when I went outdoors in the yard and felt the so-hot sun on my face, arms, feet; it was almost too much! These days are briefly hot and the ground grows cold and is harder to warm up. I sat down on my couch tonight facing my glass french doors with the view across the yard and field to the river and the moon stood full and spotlit the black sky for me to workshop poetry by––last night the moon in the middle of night through the window by my bed, after crossing the house, woke me up. Harvest moon.Equinox approaches. And, a call from my dear friend who has been abroad as she was heading off to sleep in England, it was so good to hear her voice and know she’s returning soon.
