#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Sunset, Charles River

Sunset, Charles River

Hard to move in the heat of the morning, but I went out with the dogs and the hose and watered the hydrangeas, they are drying so much, and the vegetable garden, of course. Harvested the usual suspects. Noticed that there ARE buds on the butternut seedlings, and happy for that. Otherwise, an uneventful garden morning. And there was a morning breeze that blew on my arms over the field grass. Unusual in a single morning, I had phone conversations with my sister-in-law, one of my sisters and one of my brothers, warm and connecting chats about loved ones. I enjoyed this morning’s poetry workshop. My poem was well received and very helpful discussion. I made some tweaks tonight and feel pretty satisfied with it. Tonight, back to Medfield State with daughter and dogs after dinner. We weren’t sure we would go. Again, so easy to be tired and stay in, and I did get an afternoon refreshing swim. But, I said, let’s go. What a wonderful decision it was! Some raindrops fell as we loaded the dog in the car. Bold, startlingly blue and purple and white clouds in a dramatic sky; a wonderful fast breeze blowing the hot air around. Some far off lightning when we got to our walk, and the sun setting in splendor about the river. What wind! Blowing off the heat of the day, and there was such a peaceful purple atmosphere over our scene. I felt such a sense of belonging and a special relationship to the hospital grounds after having written my poem yesterday and shared it today. The wind blew away all the mosquitos. The rain looked down and all around and decided not to come.
