#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Storm rolls into evening
An early, hot and muggy, run in the woods. Faster than the mosquitos. Today I dove into poetry revisions and had a long swim in the afternoon. After dinner the lights went out. A summer storm rolled in and Frank and I and my youngest went to the deck, under cover, and watched the sky, and the sheets of rain and flashes of lightning. Charlie cowered under a heavy towel, he wanted to be with us more than he wanted to avoid the storm. My other daughter joined us. Suzi joined us. The rain stormed down on the yard and the leafy trees swayed. The house darkened. Even I, who hates thunderstorms, relaxed on the deck. When the rain stopped we went indoors, candlelight. And then the electricity flashed on. My youngest and I watched a hilarious show on her computer: Schmigadoon! What surprised me this morning was finding a way to revise some poems I have not looked at in months, and, with fresh eyes, feeling positive about them. There is another unidentified creature in my garden. Not a bunny. A baby groundhog, I fear. The one, I am guessing, responsible for the loss of most of my sweet potato plants. Hmmmmm. He ran into the squash as I watered the pumpkins.
