#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Charlie in the Wild Geraniums
Up early, making coffee, I see the snapper across the field moving slowly. First sighting of the year. I knew they would be laying any moment now. When I dress and walk, I find another, this one digging and laying. I also find two smaller turtles walking out of the river to lay. Busy day! Strong sign of summer. I have a busy day and get a lot done. Frank comes home in the afternoon! We have a nice dinner together, and then my daughter suggests we go for an evening canoe. Part of me, tired from the day, wanted to stay sitting on the couch. But I am swayed. We hike across the field and Frank starts the motor. We go up river in the green evening air, the lush leaved river. The herons fly over our heads. Dozens of red wing blackbirds catching flies for dinner. Two beaver, starting their evening work. The sky is pale blue, baby blue and soft pink. The wild yellow iris curl at the edges on the river bank. I am so, so glad I came. An exquisite end to this day. We pull up the muddy bank just as the sun is going down. I am pleased to have had an acceptance of three photos in a print journal today: Dragonfly Arts Magazine, published by a non-profit organization devoted to supporting survivors of domestic abuse.
