#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

My morning view, Long Cove, Chamberlain, Maine

My morning view, Long Cove, Chamberlain, Maine

In every outthrust headland, in every curving beach, in every grain of sand there is the story of the earth.

~ Rachel Carson

Sleep to sound of sea rolling outside my window. A deep and restful sleep, sun pouring in through the window, early. I am the first one awake. The dogs have escaped from their blockade, but they have behaved and stayed off the furniture. I find a place to walk them across the street, a long dirt road up a hill in a very wooded area. They are happy to explore. Lupine in bloom, all colors, which we don’t have in Massachusetts. Our view is intensely amazing overlooking the Atlantic in this cove from our deck and the sun is hot. No mist, no chill. A day of gentle weather. We walk a half mile up the road later in the day and I wade in the chilly, icy salt pond, actually a National Preserve named for Rachel Carson. While Frank went to the supermarket I sat in front of the water and wrote my Aim for Astonishing weekly prompt. It is so satisfying to travel after so many months. To be somewhere new, seeing scenery, away from the familiar, and breathing in a sense of relaxation and delight. All day the view of the water in the cove changes, light shifts, clouds shift, tides shift. The whole day a day of renewal and gratitude and feeling quiet in just the right ways.
