#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

I met a frog at the brook this morning. Stopped and visited for a bit. Then, off to the fragrant woods. All the new May wildflowers: and I see my first of the year wild geraniums! I stood for a few minutes in the wetlands by the swamp in the cattails. A common flicker came and perched on a ghost tree, and I felt so fortunate for the peace I found there, just watching, listening, being still. What energy and freshness bloomed around me. When I got home, I watered the new juniper bushes and hydrangea, and suddenly a ruby throated hummingbird hovered in the spray of the hose for a few seconds as if she was trying to take a shower. It was an astonishing moment. Indoors, I wrote and sent my weekly Aim for Astonishing Prompt. And then I felt myself drawn back outdoors. The garden needed tending: I planted the tomatoes in the boxes and some purple phlox and peonies (gift from a friend) and watered and watered. Tonight, the purple rain clouds moved in over Farm Pond at my friend’s house where we went for a visit and the rain, blissful, welcome rain to water all of May fell on the thirsty and me as well.
