#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
The rain did not fall this morning, and the river was calm. Reflection of the red buds from the spring trees brushed into the surface of the river. I was calm, peaceful, grateful. I picked up sticks and broke off dead branches from the trails as I walked. I am listening, now, to George Eliot’s Mill on the Floss on Audible, read by Fiona Shaw. I’ve read the novel at least twice and, now, this third Eliot novel is just as pleasing to listen to, read dramatically, as Adam Bede and Middlemarch. I also purchased, on Audible today, the new book about the Sackler family by Patrick Radden Keefe, Empire of Pain, because I love Keefe’s writing and trust this will be very well written and compelling. My poem revision was very well received in workshop, and now I feel with some minor tweaks, finished. I was so excited to rehearse the monologue showcase I’m producing on Sunday with my friend, Phyllis Rittner, who is reading many of the monologues. I had been very tired and wishing for a nap, but once we got into the reherarsal I was completely focused and excited. I love drama. I love plays. I love works in process for the stage. I love working with actors. Tonight, after dinner, I took my rain drenched walk for a long time in the wet woods and came in after dark, pleasantly soaked and refreshed as the trees.
