This first Christmas––first one he is participating in––will always be the Christmas of the fire and the miracle. We slept a little, woke early. Last night, and upon waking, I could not imagine how there would be a Christmas celebration and meal and presents today. And yet, one of the happiest we’ve had. My daughter and Frank and I cooked at her apartment the Christmas beef and salmon, and yes, even my popovers! We are surrounded by friends, loved ones, generosity and bounty. My son, before dinner, before presents, even, suggested we all have a group sit. He played his Native American flute. And he had selected this reading from Kahlil Gibran, on Houses. And then we sat in silence for ten minutes together. It was an amazing, nourishing aspect of this very unique Christmas day. I wish all of you, my dear readers, a merry Christmas. Thank you for being here with me. It means so much.
