. . . Someone

wants to hide the body of oil and cannot.

Someone wants to hide their hands from shame.

Shark, dolphin, manatee, fish,

each slick skin an undreamt tine threading its red

flute-dusk through fumes. . .

~ Excerpt from “Terrebonne Bay,” Joanna Klink

Heavy rain, but, I have a hat and a jacket. And so, it’s a lovely drenching––pleasant in October in a way it won’t be in November, after all these leaves (so many of them still green) have left the trees. I take a long walk and then get to work; some admin for my monologue course, some follow up and planning for the showcase, and then to a poem. Which takes me a long time, to find a draft, but I do, just barely, in the amount of time I have. Later, a great phone call––a contract coming from my publisher for my poems from letters manuscript. I’m so excited to bring this collection into print.
