#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Feels like fall, the cool. I take a run with Charlie. Poor Charlie, I am his second choice; no seat for Charlie in Frank’s Mustang, off for coffee and croissants with Suzi. I am warming myself up for the swim I will take in the chill. Charlie comes with me in the car. The empty beach, the partly sunny/partly cloudy sky. It’s 53 degrees out. I’m going in. I am practicing getting a happy rush from the dive into the cold, as if it’s a drug I’m seeking. As soon as I’m in I am happy to be in. I take my usual swim; it’s slightly colder than it has been. When I finish I run up the steps to my car where Charlie is waiting and turn on the heat. Later, my brother calls. He’s on his way for his swim too, but we’ve missed each other. Tonight we have fun: a pickle ball birthday party for me and my friend, organized by our husbands. I have not played before, and most of us are fairly new to it, and it’s a blast. And so good to be having fun with friends––playing. Making time for pure fun. Gathering in groups again. I am grateful for this night.
