#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Morning Meadow Web
Animals - deer? - in the yard distracting Charlie all night; and the windows open to their scent. At 4:00 a.m. he wakes me, barking and barking, and then he escapes into the dark yard and nearby woods, barking incessantly, chasing whoever it is from one side of the property to the other. Finally, I round him up. Suzi has eaten her breakfast and his that I left in his bowl!
Not wanting to waste being awake, for awhile I do some writing - marketing writing, and I'm surprised I feel fresh enough to be cogent at a task I've been putting off. I never fall back to sleep and the gorgeous mist rising on the river draws me out early to be bathed in its soft presence. Then, in the meadow, there's fresh dew on the field full of wildflowers, and the most stunning web shining in the early sunlight stops me in my tracks. Now I can see how grateful I am for the deer prowling the yard all night and for Charlie's barking. I'm grateful for rising early and being, especially on a Sunday morning, wide awake outdoors to notice the news. Fantastic webs being patiently spun in the night to catch insects, and me.
