Mud, maple wings, ferns, beech, and dogwood – I could stay out all day under this steel gray sky, because all the plants and trees are pulsing with energy and delight.

Today was a writing day – I went to work on my essay and found a poem I hadn't looked at in a long time and so I revised that instead. It wasn't a diversion. It relates entirely to the themes of my essay on fertility. Everything in my day, it seems, is about fertility.
