#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Former Medfield State Hospital Grounds
With a friend who is staying with me, we walk the old Medfield State Hospital grounds. She has stayed with me before and I've taken her into the woods, but on an impulse I drive us here. And she is fascinated, and moved, and disturbed. I've walked here now for years, and I forgot, how could I forget? how disturbing and strange and emotional it is to be on this campus, like a thriving little town, where time abruptly stopped. The enormity of what existed here and is no more - it's a lot to experience in a morning stroll.

Emily Dickinson
The Soul has Bandaged moments –
When too appalled to stir –
She feels some ghastly Fright come up
And stop to look at her –
