Beaded Fern in Brook

One of my favorites, the sensitive fern, showing its beads so boldly in winter, frozen in the brook – I'm skating all over the wetlands in boots, a fine morning activity and it's cold, very cold, but sunny and blue above and blue below, the river is freezing again, so here is heart shaped opening in the Charles and I am awake and alive and happy skidding and sliding all around the quiet bright frozen miracles of this morning.
