Walking my favorite spots on the other side of the Charles in the sunshine I was thinking about my early morning dream. My sister-in-law called, she needed me to help her get to the doctor. It was a long dream making my way to her even though she was nearby and I went straight to her. I made it, and she needed my help and I was glad to be there. We have a special bond. A few years ago, something happened and we connected on a deep level. As I walked through the trees and the puddles on the trail I thought, I wonder if I will be hearing from her soon.
To shop for Christmas groceries, I left the woods for the supermarket. I was looking at cheeses when the call came. My brother, actually. I saw his name on my cell and thought he must be calling to see what he can bring for Christmas dinner. Except he wasn’t. He was at the hospital with my niece; complications due to lyme disease. I paid for the groceries in my cart and went right over. That’s when I got to give my sister-in-law a hug.
My husband and I left the hospital when my niece seemed stabilized. But later they called to say she was being transferred to Mass. General for more care. We drove back to the hospital so we could take my sister-in-law’s car back to our house; I got to hug her again.
There is communication happening on a mysterious, spiritual level I don’t completely understand, but I am paying close attention to being more receptive tonight and what I’m being called upon to serve.
