I’m awake in the middle of the night, arrive in Tampa by 9:00 a.m., sunshine and heat outside the airport doors. A day spent with a dear friend, a whole day of talking, listening, sharing, covering all the territory of close friends who live miles apart. We sort of walked, but she has a broken foot, so what we really did was sit and drink coffee and have lunch and drink coffee and wander cheerfully through stores. Spontaneous shopping! We have missed each other so much. She’s the bonus, not the reason I’m here, and so it was sad to break away from our deep dive and drive the few miles to the Board Retreat I came to attend. And then, I was very happy to be there, too, surrounded by the dynamic women I get to serve the Guild with, also friends; another kind of deep dive: Strategic planning. Hmmmm. The fountain was enough for me today; but, first thing tomorrow, I will not miss my long walk by the bay.
