#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
The beach is bright and sunny, warm and artful for my morning walk. I have had a night of sleeping and waking, waking and writing, more awakenings, small tweaks to a poem I shared at my Truchas Poetry workshop intensive last October. I had taken notes, including jotting down an idea for a better title, but I left my notes at home; I always write down feedback I receive, but rarely look at it later on. Instead, I revise from what I've spontaneously ingested, consciously and unconsciously from the critique, trusting I'll integrate the feedback in a way that guides me, intuitively, to how the poem is meant to be.
Falling into sleep, last night, it's nagging me, this sense of not reaching, yet, the best title: what was it what was it what was it. . . . I open my eyes and close them, one more time and Bam! Here.
All day today I'm focused, undisturbed, revising and revising to my heart's content, another poem polished. My self-styled writing retreat is a disciplined success, and I am grateful. Before I pack up to return home, I have three more I hope to finish.
