#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
A reflective walk, this Menemsha morning, in bright sunshine, after a troubled night's sleep. Daylight bringing clarity to a conflict I had slept on.
Before going to bed I learned that something I had playfully said had - unintentionally - hurt my daughter's feelings. Under a bright sky, the peace of my seashore walk inspires soul searching: I see beyond my defensive posture to my own part in a skirmish with my daughter.
More than I want to be right, I want to understand. More than I want to minimize her feelings, I want to honor them. More than I want to be defensive, I want to be vulnerable and trustworthy. More than I want to be self-justified, I want to heal old wounds.
I return home, awake, aware, enlightened, willing to make amends.
