#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Another found image this morning while walking the quiet, early morning beach. At low tide, the rocks I walked over were completely dry. This stone "sculpture" caught my eye - the flat one, with a wide broad shouldered torso, tapering to tucked feet; the other, a small, square-jawed, head-like stone tucked between the shoulders. Instantly, the word, Sleeper, popped into my consciousness.
Looking at this found sculpture now, I see why sleeper came to mind: it looks like the figure of a person cozily tucked up to the chin in a sheet. How remarkably peaceful it would be to wake from a deep sleep in this stunning and remote stone landscape, listening to the sweet, rhythmic sound of the shore being lapped by the gentle surf of Vineyard Sound, under the blue-soft comfort of an open sky.
The dogs and I, passing, have stirred her, called her name. Let's call her Dreamer: Waking Up.
