#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Moving between such radically different climates is startling. My tanned and sandaled feet, crossing the airport pavement to the waiting car, feel the cold first.
It's sunny, blue skies, bright - and 23% in Boston.
Within a half hour my boots are on my feet, the dogs are eagerly waiting, and we are at the river. A thin strip of bubbled ice edges the bright blue water of the Charles. I walk along the river, stop at the bubbling brook and listen to winter.
The dogs chase sticks and scramble through the brush.
Soon enough, I remember how much I love to look at the ice. I'm glad to be home, that I have this home to belong to.
Soon, the ice will melt.
