Are you a caregiver of a loved one with dementia? You will find “stories, comfort and grace” at this event celebrating National Poetry Month
Event Sponsored by Alzheimer’s Authors
I’m looking forward to being one of the many readers of poems about caregiving for loved ones with dementia. I’ll be reading my poems that are included in the poetry anthology, Storms of the Inland Sea: Poems of Alzheimer’s and Dementia Caregiving, an anthology edited by poets and former dementia caregivers Margaret Stawowy and Jim Cokas. The book can be purchased here or directly from the publisher.
April is National Poetry Month. Please join us for a virtual celebration of poetry for the dementia journey on Tuesday, April 18th at 2 pm EST on Zoom. A community of poets who have all written poetry on their caregiver journeys will gather to share their poems and stories. We will find solace in shared stories, as well as comfort and grace. We will explore this topic in a panel discussion and then each poet will read from their own work. Participants will also be invited to read from their work.
The program will be free, on Zoom, and recorded for future viewing on YouTube and throughout our platform. It will also be made into a podcast. You will receive links to both for your own promotional purposes.
This program will focus on the value of reading and writing poetry for those on a dementia journey, including the person living with the condition.
About Alzheimer’s Authors
Managed by six daughters who have experienced the loss of a loved one with dementia, AlzAuthors serves the goal of making a difference to your dementia journey.
We are also extremely grateful to our growing team of AlzAuthors Managers and Associates – volunteers that contribute their valuable time and talents to our work.
AlzAuthors is proud that we have been a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation since 2019.
We chose to write about our personal stories to help people along their journey and now, we invite others to join us and become an AlzAuthor.
We know the pain of being forgotten.
We have all witnessed decline.
We have provided countless hours of caregiving.
We know many others have experienced the same.
Now, more than ever, we believe in the power of sharing our stories.
Our Vision
Lift the silence and stigma of Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
Our Mission
We are a community of authors sharing Alzheimer’s and dementia stories to light the way for others.
