#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Early Icy Morning
Awake at 4:00 a.m. with Frank who is packing for a short trip. We have a chance to visit with coffee. And when he leaves, I realize I am too tired to get up and go back to sleep. And when my alarm goes off I want to stay asleep. But I want to swim. Which do I want more? I can’t decide. Rest longer. And then I know: I want to swim. And so I do. It’s icy. A slick surface of the driveway. I am careful not to slip. I have a good swim, and then it’s Charlie’s turn, and I end up taking a short run because I have a lot of energy. Today is a busy day ahead. I have my Charles River Writers critique group and then dash off with my daughter Franci to a video studio in Needham where we are recording some of the poems from jinx and heavenly calling for a book trailer. She has selected around a dozen or fifteen that she’ll perform. We have fun working with the videographers to get the footage in the studio. For me and Franci it’s like old times, our Playwrights Platform days of her acting and me directing. She’s doing a terrific job bringing the poems to life. We cannot wait to see the proofs. I have a late dentist appointment, an emergency one. Not a bad visit; scheduled for the repairs next week. Relief. Home to exhaustion. I make myself a dinner tray! Carry it upstairs and eat in bed, a lovely bit of luxury after a very busy day, a very busy week. I can barely keep my eyes open tonight.
