#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Tennis is just a game, family is forever.

~ Serena Williams

My door creaks open for a peak. I am coaxed downstairs, and outdoors. Cooler, September morning. Bright sun. Day begins. Frank is away with his father on their annual father/son trip to the U.S. Open Tennis in New York. I am so happy for them being able to see Serena Williams play tonight, in person—I vicariously share their good fortune and fun. Charlie gets a shortened walk with me. It’s a busy, lovely day. In the afternoon I get my swim in at Farm Pond and go a mile. It feels great to be swimming in the warm, flat water. I am thinking about the Annual Funbelow Perimeter swim here a week from tomorrow and wanting to be in good shape for it. My daughter Franci already complained to me that she’s not feeling ready; but she will jump in and go much faster and finish well before me and she’ll have a good easy time of it. I am hoping my other swimmer daughter will join us. She says she isn’t sure, but I have a week to work on her. Now, before bed, I am watching the exciting Serena match on TV while Frank watches live. Will she do it? Will she compete in the final of her final tournament? Or will she end her career tonight after this match?? I have an excited feeling she will win tonight and go on to the final. What a player. What a woman. What a legend. What a thrill.
