#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Charles River
"So dull and dark are the November days.
The lazy mist high up the evening curled,
And now the morn quite hides in smoke and haze;
The place we occupy seems all the world."- John Clare, November
Slept in until 8, a pleasure. Woke feeling almost back to normal. Charlie eager to go out with me. Just the two of us, across the industrial park, quieter for Saturday. And along the river, the trees mostly bare limbed or with dull leaves. Unseasonable warmth. Many birds. Nothing unusual. This is the season when the leaves are thick and light on the earth, freshly fallen, and they make the sticks and rocks and roots underneath them invisible. So, it’s a tripping along kind of process. Frank and I had fun going shopping for dishes in the mall. The mall part was tolerable. We enjoyed our time in Crate and Barrel. We negotiated our choice very well! We compromised and found something we both liked very much. It’s fun to imagine using them in our renovated dining room! In the afternoon I went on a sibling outing on an errand with my brother and sister. We had a couple of hours in the car together, something we haven’t experienced together in a long time. I had planned to jump into the water at Farm Pond on my way home, it was such a tempting temperature all day; but I chose to get home sooner to have some time with the special one in the yard. My daughter appreciated that.
