To sleep in the pour and waking in the pour. A drenching. We went out into it, resigned to soaking and mud. So many frogs! I kept seeing frogs, sitting, leaping, happy frogs in rain. This one above mostly submerged in the rising swamp water. I watched him, kneeling in the soak for some time. I was so happy to find him. All the bark was gorgeous, like art hung upon the trees and in scattered piles all over the ground. In the afternoon the rain stopped and my daughters decided to walk and I went along into spring. Truly spring. Sky blued and cheerful clouds, big fat clouds reflecting on the Charles and we had so much to talk about. They asked for stories about my cousin and set me off on a long narrative of summers on Laurel Lake. The dogs swam and we saw more frogs! Snakes too. A woodpecker and the wild oats in bloom. After we returned, and started dinner, I looked out and it was pouring rain again. Today I was delighted that About Place Journal published one of my ice images on the cover of this issue about practices of hope, and, inside, published one of my favorites - well, my favorite -found ice image of the winter: Woman Who Wears Her Moon Heart Full. So, this lovely journal about the environment is featuring my nature photos from the Charles River and my daily walks.
