#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Ferns on the Charles River

Great Rock Bight, Vineyard Sound, July 29, 2018

Today I felt too busy, waking up with anxiety, too much to do and too tired to feel like doing it. But I coached myself, stay in the moment, do the next right thing, there will be enough time and all will be well, and it will all get done. And, in the woods, of course, I was calmed in the cool air, under the clouds it was all so deeply green, and green is a truly energetic color. My spirit was greening along the unruffled river, in and around the ferns. And everything about these calming thoughts came true: an inconvenient appointment in the city was canceled which gave me the time I needed to write something for my group tonight. Once I had the extra time, I procrastinated for no good reason on revising the piece I had decided to bring. Still, once I focused and committed it pretty much wrote itself, and tonight the feedback was positive from my group, (our leader says, send it out) and this piece that started as a very weak poem has now become a short, hybrid prose piece, originally inspired by this photo I took on July 29 one morning at Great Rock Bight in Chilmark on Vineyard Sound. Tonight, in bed, I am listening to rain, heavy and soothing, a perfectly happy night.
