Frost on Showy Goldenrod

Frost on Showy Goldenrod

The sculpted flower spikes of Showy Goldenrod create a spectacular show. The foot long golden wands add a distinctive flourish to the autumnal prairie landscape. Solidago speciosa blooms August – September and is an important late season nectar source for butterflies and other pollinators.

Today's news is long sleeve shirt, ski vest, sneakers

and socks

gloves, hat, hood over that, and still

I'm chilled

air fresh on my cheeks, pleasantly bracing

The cell phone battery, damp and cold, weakens quickly

goes to black, here now

I am with the mist of the river rising

like everything rooted still in bloom

glazed with frost
