#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Oh, dear Brittany, early riser. Getting me out of bed early and lately I’m wanting to rise later. Oh, well. Still not swimming. My body/mind/spirit are taking me walking in the wetlands and it’s all I want to do. Long rambles with Charlie and my camera. I know I’ll swing around to swimming again very soon. Just trusting this shift. No poetry workshop this morning or evening, but I have my poem and I am happy with it so far. Have quite a few things I’m inspired to work on, but today needed to take care of housework and bills. And go to the eclipse! Ours was a fairly last minute plan. Po, Geoff, Leanne, me and Franci went for a hike in the afternoon up to King Philip’s Overlook, the long way around because of the brook flooding. A couple of other women hikers were already there. It was sunny and hot when we sat down and put our eclipse glasses on. The river stretched out over the granite cliff before us, and above us was a mostly un-cloudy blue sky. The birds were quiet. The sun looked amazing, as we watched the moon creep in front of it blackening in the sun’s surface and leaving the orange/yellow slim aperture. The color of the water below grew lightly purple as the sun darkened. A breeze blew up. It was chilly; I put my boots and shirt back on. Frank and Will joined us, delayed by work meetings, and I knew Frank wasn’t hot to be there, but after all he was glad he came (in the wading boots across the brook.) I loved the experience of knowing there were millions of others watching the spectacle, being astonished. We had made it special, by going together on our hike and sitting on the granite with the wonderful view. We hiked back the long way and were all grateful we’d gone. I tried to nap with Wave, but he woke up and needed things. I didn’t think I had the energy to make dinner, but, of course I found it. Made chicken parmesan, a favorite of all, and Wave said, Grammy I want pizza, until he smelled the chicken and then he ate more than I’ve ever seen him eat at dinner before. Tonight it is early to bed. Tomorrow I hope to work on getting files in order. Not fun, not creative, but necessary. I am craving less clutter, more organization.
