#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

It was cheerful for a Monday wake up. A cheerful request for a dipping egg. A cheerful chat at breakfast with Wave, and then they are out the door and so am I, into the woods with Charlie. Still unable to cross the overflowing brook on the trail through Rocky Narrows. I go around. I don’t mind. There is so little to photograph. It’s very much still Marchy––blank sky, little sun, lots of brown and the water overflowing everywhere. Then I took a shorter swim than usual after a long walk. Just what my body said to do today. I worked on my newsletter and emails about upcoming workshops and that took me a long time. I volunteered to pick up Wave, and that was a treat. So cheerful today! He was excited with the idea for the two of us to go through the brook in Rocky Narrows. I will wear my high boots, my waders, that Papa got me, I said, and I will pull you in the wagon. We’ll go to King Philip’s Overlook, I said, and he loved the idea. My youngest decided to come, and I’m glad for that, because she ended up pulling the wagon, which we said was a ferry boat crossing to Martha’s Vineyard. We had a long, great hike up to King Philip’s Overlook, played camping, and returned via the last Martha’s Vineyard ferry of the day. Just made it! Tired and hungry we reached home at last, and my feet stayed perfectly dry, all of our feet stayed dry, even with the water up to my knees. Someone played an April Fool’s joke today at our house, and set up Santa and his elves all over the house as if it were Christmas. I even found someone sleeping in my bed––Mrs. Clause! Then, poetry workshop with my Monday night friends and I didn’t have a poem, but theirs were terrific. I’m ready for sleep, so, move over Mrs. Clause.
