Aquinnah Cliffs, Martha’s Vineyard

Remember you are all people and all people are you. Remember you are this universe and this universe is you. Remember all is in motion, is growing, is you.

—Joy Harjo

Brittany woke me early to a very full and satisfying day. Another walk with my friend Liz. No dogs today. A wild walk, a wild, spontaneous dip in the ocean and sun. We walked Wasque beach for the first time, and it was thrilling and gorgeous along the cliffs. But even more thrilling cliffs were those this afternoon when we went with Frank and my daughter and Liz and Will to Aquinnah to Moshup Beach. These are the most stunning clay cliffs of the island. It was rocky and rough walking, with cormorants and nude bathers and the sun on our faces. A sweet day and a day of some quiet. I actually had the house to myself for two hours and I revised a poem and started a new one. It was just what I needed. My poem for Monday workshop.
