#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Newburyport

Delightful July sunshine and a cooler morning, the heat waves and then the cloudiness have passed. On a whim, Frank and I and our daughters and Will drove up to Newburyport, MA for a day at the beach. We had planned to hike the gorgeous wildlife preserve on Plum Island, but we were too late to get parking. I knew we weren’t leaving early enough, but didn’t rush anyone, and trusted the day would go well whether we got parking or not. No stress. So, we did find easy parking for a public beach and everyone was cheerful about this alternative. And even though the water was numbingly cold, and even though we all missed having Wave with us, we all jumped in and relaxed in the sun before lobster rolls at a nearby stand on picnic tables where we met, by chance, the loveliest young Parisian woman, a tennis player at UMass Amherst and had a very friendly chat. A very relaxing summery happy day, no pressures, and no gardening even, for me, because I am very tired today and happy to rest.
