#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
The day begins, me and Wave, out in the yard, him on my back in bare feet. We cross the yard, the meadow, go to the river. No turtles. But we sit on the peaceful bench and watch as the bird alights on the bird box––her nest likely inside. I am finding, in this, an ending for a poem I’ve been working on. We look at the garden. It’s growing well. I particularly like to check on my sunflowers, as they are from seed. Frank and I drive him to school and he takes Papa in and shows him his classroom. The sky was a stunning deep blue over the house as we watched it from the river. Walking to the outdoor shower we felt a sprinkle. Just as we reached the shower door, the thunder cracked. We ran inside! There was only this threat of storm, and then a brief period of some rain that soon passed. Not enough rain to clean the pollen off of all the plants. I had two groups today: Israeli and my Charles River Craft. I ran the craft group later in the afternoon today, and just as I finished, Wave appeared in my room, calling me for dinner. His mother had made him angel hair pasta, and he wanted met to eat with him. We at on the porch, and then repeated our after dinner ritual in the yard. I put on all my protective clothing to pull poison ivy from a garden I’ve been clearing up. He took OFF his clothes, of course. Then we met in the garden to water and get wet in the warm evening from the hose water. Then, the shower and no thunder. But the most important thing from the day, came this morning, after he woke up and he was watching a show on my bed and he looked over to me and said: “Grammy, you’re the best.”
