Mud Bath

We have been crossing to a new port for the last couple of hours in rough seas after a long day of play. We went on a river, we went on a climb around Roman ruins, we had lunch in a sweet town with a view of the Roman tombs and we did a little shopping. Then another boat ride to the mud baths, lots of fun, and the whole day a pleasure and adventure. It’s our 37th wedding anniversary and we will have dinner on the boat tonight, our second to last night, and it will be quite late because we got a late start to our new port for the night and tomorrow. The sunset over the Aegean behind us was phenomenal, despite the rough going. Fortunately, only one of our group suffering from some seasickness. Mostly it was fun to be in the rollicking waves, but there was quite a lot of disruption to anything not tied down. I have continued to sleep on deck with great pleasure. Tomorrow, our last full day, bittersweet. I will swim and swim in this amazing sea with these dear friends on a trip of a lifetime. But home also calls. My garden, my children, my Wave, my Charlie and Brittany, my Farm Pond where I will continue to swim for this summer no matter what––because it’s a lifelong sacred body of water and the turtles of the pond are powerful spirits to ward off any unfriendly forces.
