#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
We had the coolest day, my happiest day, if one happy day can be compared to another. We slept anchored against the hills near a stone beach. I slept on deck, very comfortably. Slept through our early departure to get to this spot. Woke and swam and hiked from the beach before breakfast. Barefoot over the rocks, because I was only in my bathing suit, up to the stone monastery, built in the 1800s. Prayer flags tied to the short trees. Then I swam back and we all had a lovely breakfast. All of us went back for the monastery hike after breakfast, so it was fun to be in the group. And Ed climbed and found a wonderful cave, built by the monks, made out of stone, a meditation cave, about eight feet deep, and fifteen feet long, with the an opening on top that would be covered by a stone once the person went in! And then there was a small square opening with a view to the sea where the meditator would light a candle to let someone know he was ready to come out. Ed leaned in and took a video. Saw some bones he thought were human. More swimming. More hiking. More resting. I have started the draft of a play for the first time in over a decade. At a friend’s request. She is an actor and asked me to write something for her. I decided I would try because I love working with her. And so I am seeing if it will write itself. So far, 13 pages in, it is. I have no expectations, but trust I can finish a first draft and see what I think. I had no motivation to do this until my friend asked me, and when she asked me, I immediately knew I would try. I swam off the boat to my heart’s content today.
