Frank’s first ski from the boat

Source: Wikipedia, Turkish Pine

I sleep in, inside our cabin. Until 8, which is late for me. I decided not to sleep on the deck because when I was ready for bed we were traveling to another stopping place and I was afraid of being cold during the move. It was a good choice for a full night of rest. And then we were tied up in a cove when I woke and before breakfast dove in and swam to a rocky beach where the sun shone brightly. Po joined me and we instinctively lay down on the heating rocks and began a prone meditation. A sort of guided, spontaneous meditation where we could both just speak when the spirit moved us. About mothering. About our grandsons. Letting ourselves be surprised by what we found to say. And then, eventually, we heard a whistle from the boat. Breakfast, and we were being called back. Opening our eyes, above us were the wonderful Turkish pines––Pinus brutia––covered in cones. We left the stones, we swam back to the boat and we all ate a bountiful breakfast. Frank got his waterskiing next, and so did Po. We all swam and played in the sun and water for hours. Dinner in a lovely port tonight. And a Facetime call with Wave from home. More satisfying for us, I’m sure, than him. We are the ones away with friends in a distant land on the sea.
