#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

It’s pretty amazing that my day started in Sherborn at 5:00 a.m. and is coming to a close across the country, from the East coast to the West Coast, with a view of San Francisco Bay from my window in Sausalito, CA. A stunning sunset over the Bay, and the window wide open to the gentle night air, here at my friend’s house. How lucky am I, to be resting so comfortably after an afternoon of hiking and talking and eating. Tonight, we sat by her gas fireplace with the lilac sky over the Bay and both her dogs curled up on my lap on the couch as if they remembered our life together when we roamed the woods of the Charles River before they moved west. Straight from the airport, my friend drove us to Marin County where we hiked the amazing Tennessee Valley Trail to the beach. Sat on a Pacific smooth boulder and then jumped into the roiling surf for a quick dip that didn’t put us in danger of the wild undertow. It was sunny and also there was a pleasant chill in the air. The flora and fauna are stunning; all the California poppies, the eucalyptus trees, gargantuan, and the sagebrush and the calla lilies. . . true splendor. I had a poem acceptance today. I had an image published as cover art that I took on my last trip to Abiquiu, New Mexico with Frank:
